The short answer

  • EDR4RXD1 is everydrop Filter 4. everydrop says it replaces UKF8001 and should be replaced every 6 months (or 200 gallons) [S2].
  • everydrop calls it the official filter for Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana and JennAir refrigerators [S1]. That doesn't mean every fridge from those brands uses Filter 4, so check your exact model in everydrop's filter finder [S6].
  • NSF lists it under NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401, with Whirlpool Corporation as the listing company [S3].

The same filter under other part numbers

NSF's listing groups these trade names under the same Whirlpool filter models: EDR4RXD1, EDR4RXD1B, EDR4RXD1R, KAD4XD1, WHR4RXD1, Kenmore 9084 and W10790818 [S3]. If one of these is printed on your old filter, NSF's listing treats it as the same Filter 4 product [S3]. everydrop separately says Filter 4 replaces UKF8001 [S2].

Certification: what NSF's listing shows

Searching NSF for EDR4RXD1 on October 21, 2026 showed two Whirlpool Corporation filter models under those trade names [S3]:

  • W11311161 (200 gallons). NSF's footnote says this is the version "with Performance Indicator Device".
  • W11256135 (100 gallons). NSF's footnote says this is the version "without Performance Indicator Device".

Both are listed under NSF/ANSI 42 (chlorine, taste and odor, particulates), NSF/ANSI 53 (including lead, cysts, mercury, asbestos and several pesticides) and NSF/ANSI 401 (including ibuprofen, BPA and microplastics). They also appear under CSA B483.1 [S3]. Open the live NSF record for the full list of claims.

This matches everydrop's own claim: "Filters certified by NSF International under NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, and 401 to reduce specific contaminants" [S1]. everydrop's product pages are not consistent on the contaminant count. The US page says 32 contaminants [S1] and the Canadian page says 31 [S2]. Go by the NSF listing.

Which fridges use Filter 4?

We haven't published a model list yet. Neither everydrop page we read names specific fridge models [S1] [S2], and we only list models a manufacturer source names. Use everydrop's filter finder [S6], or check the filter that's in your fridge now. Whirlpool's instructions place Filter 4 in the upper right-hand corner of the refrigerator interior [S4].

How to replace Filter 4 (Whirlpool's steps)

From Whirlpool's Filter 4 instructions [S4]:

  1. Find the filter cover in the upper right-hand corner inside the fridge. If the tab faces outward, push it and pull the cover down. If the tab is on the bottom, pull the small lever forward and down.
  2. Turn the old filter to the left and pull it out.
  3. First-time installs only: there's a cap in the filter slot. Turn it counterclockwise and pull it out.
  4. Line the new filter up with the grooves, push it in and turn it to the right. Push up on the filter to lock it, then push the filter door up so it snaps closed.
  5. Run four gallons of water through the line to flush the new filter.

How to reset the filter status light

Whirlpool says the status usually has to be reset by hand after each new filter, although "some models will automatically reset". The method depends on your dispenser type [S5]:

Dispenser type What to press
Type 1 Touch MAX COOL and MAX ICE together for 3 seconds
Type 2 Press and hold FILTER RESET
Type 3 Press and hold WATER FILTER for 3 seconds
Type 4 OPTIONS, then FILTER RESET, then MEASURED FILL to confirm
Type 5 Press and hold LIGHT and ICE TYPE for 3 seconds

If none of these match your fridge, Whirlpool says to check your owner's manual [S5].

If the filter clogs before you can replace it

Whirlpool says that if the filter is clogged and you can't replace it right away, you can leave it out. The water system then runs in bypass mode, but the water isn't filtered until a new filter goes in [S5].
